Stunning Wedding Venues in Ireland I’ve Photographed At
Intro
One of my favourite things about being a wedding photographer in Ireland is the variety of venues I get to experience. I have been to over 40 Wedding Venues across Ireland. Every place has its own unique atmosphere — from windswept coastal cliffs to grand castles, serene lakeside retreats, and cozy countryside escapes.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky to photograph weddings in some of the most breathtaking spots across the country. Whether you’re dreaming of something timeless and elegant or relaxed and full of personality, here are a few of my favourite venues and why I love shooting at each of them.
1. Armada Hotel, Lahinch – County Clare
If you’re dreaming of a wedding by the sea, the Armada Hotel in Lahinch is hard to beat. Perched along the Wild Atlantic Way, it’s the perfect mix of coastal charm and modern comfort. The sound of the waves, the salty air, and the ever-changing light make it a dream backdrop for candid, romantic photos.
One of my favourite moments here is sneaking down to the cliffs or beach just before sunset — the light is golden, the breeze soft, and couples always seem to relax completely in that moment.
2. Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel, Adare – County Limerick
A family-run gem just outside Adare village, Woodlands has such a warm, welcoming energy. The gardens are perfect for portraits, and the team here truly goes above and beyond for every couple. It’s one of those venues where everyone feels instantly at home.
3. Tankardstown House – County Meath
Tankardstown is the definition of timeless elegance. The Orangery and walled gardens are filled with soft natural light — perfect for those airy, romantic shots. It’s a venue that suits both classic and modern styles beautifully.
4. Glasson Lakehouse – County Westmeath
Modern, fun, and full of character — Glasson Lakehouse overlooks the stunning Lough Ree. The views are spectacular, and the atmosphere is relaxed yet refined. It’s perfect for couples who want their wedding to feel like a stylish weekend away.
5. Boyne Hill House – County Meath
Tucked away in a private woodland estate, Boyne Hill House has this lovely balance of intimacy and grandeur. The courtyard and gardens offer endless photo opportunities, and the flow of the venue makes the whole day feel seamless and easygoing.
6. Markree Castle – County Sligo
For couples who want a fairytale setting, Markree Castle is pure magic. Every corner feels cinematic — from the grand staircase to the candlelit dining hall. It’s elegant without being overly formal, and it photographs beautifully in every season.
7. Barberstown Castle – County Kildare
Steeped in history, Barberstown Castle combines medieval character with modern luxury. The ivy-covered walls and cozy interiors create such a romantic feel. It’s perfect for couples who love that timeless, storybook atmosphere.
8. Ashley Park House – County Tipperary
Ashley Park House is one of those venues that feels like a hidden gem. Surrounded by water and lush greenery, it’s incredibly peaceful and scenic. The lakeside setting is perfect for golden-hour portraits, and the house itself has so much charm and warmth.
9. Rathsallagh House – County Wicklow
Rathsallagh is the perfect countryside retreat — romantic, peaceful, and full of character. The grounds are stunning for portraits, and the staff always make sure everything runs smoothly. It’s ideal for couples who want a relaxed celebration in a classic Irish setting.
10. Ballymagarvey Village – County Meath
Ballymagarvey is one of Ireland’s most beloved venues for a reason. Every inch of it photographs beautifully — from the twinkling lights in the courtyard to the cozy, candlelit dinner space. It has that rare combination of elegance and warmth that couples and guests instantly fall in love with.

True Meaning Behind ‘‘Candid’’
The word “candid” gets used a lot in wedding photography, but it’s often misunderstood. Here’s what it actually means — and how guided, natural moments create the most authentic wedding photos.
