Meet Paul, The Vision Behind

Candid Dreamers

How Candid Dreamers Began

‘‘it was the people I met’’

Before weddings, there was travel.

For years, I was always dreaming about somewhere else new places, new people, a little more freedom and a little more adventure.

I spent years teaching English across Southeast Asia, documenting life as I moved from place to place. I lived in a van while travelling across New Zealand for a year, worked on a fruit farm in Hawaii, and spent a winter working in Canada’s Northern Territories. Along the way, I worked with rescue animals, helped small businesses and hostels get started, and found myself constantly surrounded by people with completely different stories and ways of life.

But what stayed with me most was never just the places.

It was the people.

I became fascinated by the little things, expressions, gestures, laughter, relationships and those completely unplanned moments that say far more than a perfectly posed photograph ever could.

I met some incredibly kind and memorable people along the way, and photography became my way of holding onto those connections. Years later, I could look at a single photograph and immediately remember the person, the conversation, the place, and even how that moment felt.

That is ultimately where Candid Dreamers began.

I realised that the photographs I valued most were never simply about what something looked like. They were about memory, emotion and character.

And that is still how I photograph weddings today.

I want your photographs to do more than show you what your wedding looked like. I want them to bring you back to the people, the laughter, the nerves, the small interactions and all the moments you may not even have noticed happening around you.

Because years from now, it is often those photographs that mean the most.
